Christmas is a beautiful time to reflect on the past, present and future. Christmas has always been special for me personally not only is my birthday on Christmas Eve, but for us it seems this is the time when our miracles are boosted up and give us the moral that we need to keep shinning for the one we celebrate, God's Son for the New Year.
Now grab a cup tea or hot chocolate and take a walk with me through the memories of Christmas. The beginning of Christmas began when the decorations were pulled out, there was so much excitement and anticipation in the air as we sat there waiting for mom to pull out the Christmas tree. Mom would sit patiently for a good 1/2hr putting our huge Christmas tree up. As my sister, brother and I sat there handing mom piece by piece of the tree, we watched it blossom and grow it felt magical to us and anticipation kept building in us cause we knew what was coming next. As soon as the tree was up mom would reach for the ornament box and all three of us would scramble around it just to smell, touch and see the beautiful ornaments that lay in it.
As all three of us huddle around that big box mom would begin, she would lift an ornament up and then hand it to one of us kids as she was handing it to us, she would tells us the story of the ornament. Many of these ornaments was created by someone it was time capsule of memories. As the last ornament was placed on it was time to put the tree topper on. Then mom would break out the craft box every year as far as I can remember we would create a new ornament together. One particular year we made ornaments from plastic canvas trains, mailboxes and gift boxes. The mailboxes seem to be the favor with my younger brother, I do believe he loved them because then he can fill them with goodies like little love notes, stickers or little gifts from $.25 machine. We would wake up and find a mailbox hanging on our doorknob with the little flag up. I do have to say even when I felt awful it always put a smile on my face when I saw that little mailbox.
Ornaments don't have to be expensive or store bought but a creation of the heart. Ornaments hang on the tree just like our Savior did for us. Ornaments are a reflection of those who have passed, those who are living and those who are still to come. Ornaments reflects the heart of the maker and giver.
Today, lets take the time to create something from the heart and then pass it on.
