We survived the Storm-Angels protected us.

Last night we had a very quick and harsh storm hit us. My daughter and I got caught right smack in the middle of it coming home from church. As we were leaving the church it was lightening and thunder typical thunderstorm and then it started pouring.  We were only 10 blocks from home and it was just a thunderstorm, we thought.  When I turned onto our street and 3 blocks from home, I lost all visibility and couldn't see the road, just then I saw something in the headlights coming right for us. I only had a few seconds to slam the truck into park, hit the emergency brake and tell my daughter to brace when WHAM we were hit on the passenger side, it shook us so bad but it didn't flip us thank goodness.  When it let up just for a few seconds I decided to continue on home, Why I was 3 blocks from home and on a street that had deep ditches that I couldn't pull over and we were parked in the street.  So we continued on the entire time I am telling my daughter to continue praying we are almost there and mom would get her home safely and God would protect us.  2 blocks from home Hands vice gripped on the steering wheel and trying to stay calm and then WHAM, we were hit again by a tree. At this point I am thinking do I pull over and risk it under all these trees or continue.  Knowing my street and knowing what these trees looked like, I decided not to risk it.  1 block from home I missed another trash can, a rug that flew over the hood and then WHAM I am hit again and visibility is starting to get worse again.

This is the point that I am thinking am I really going to make it 1 block from home. Then my head hit speed mode how many accidents happen only a few miles from home, are we going to make it, should I really pulled over, etc.  I am also fighting panic attack and trying to stay calm. Do you know how many flashbacks you can have in just a split second especially if you have gone through a car accident before. Finally seeing our house and safety ahead, I lay on the horn to get hubby to open the garage, I start pulling in when WHAM we are hit with another tree. Good grief can my nerves handle any more. I continue pulling into the driveway all the while giving k instructions what to do when we get up to the gate.  We jumped out and take off for the house when I heard a loud snap just as another branch came down.

Getting to the safety of the house was such a relief then hubby and I realized our tent was in backyard.  So braving the storm and racing to grab the tent that was starting to fly over the fence, we got it strapped back down and then went inside. I know though you may think it was crazy for us though we need our tent in another week.  When I got back inside I met Little k wide eyed, shaking and holding a pile of towels for us and upon seeing us dropped them and then wrapped her arms around me. Then I hear say Mommy, we are home safe just like you said Jesus would get us home. Now as I am sitting here telling you this it will take me a few days to recover just to the fact of how bad it rattled me. The one thing I can say through all this Thank the Lord for putting Angels around us. What was scary also became a good teaching lesson for k. While I was putting her in her bed she said, Mommy angels were there weren't they. I told her yes they were there and they are sitting right next to her and with that she went to sleep. I do wish that I could be like her and just put it at peace though being human it takes a lot to let go and give it over to God.
