What a crazy week I do think this has been a whopper of an adventure. I think the only one in our family not really to worried is peppie. He is definitely back to normal silly self. The Ironic of it all this weekend we had reservations for a weekend of camping and enjoy a train festival. My daughter and I informed my better half that would not be happening since we have been enduring it all except sleeping under the stars. My heart breaks to see what has happened and going to be happening around us as of right now we are still under a No Flush order with this order it has shut down all public functions, restaurants, deli's, etc.
What a breakfast conversation this was and my 5yr old response Oh my do I have to conserve my underwear. Now a common site in our community is rows and rows of port a potties. K's first experience with a port a potty was at Walmart. When she cames out she has this horrid look on her face, holding both hands in front of her and basically in tears and saying where is sanitizer mom that gross. On the way home in a very quiet voice I hear I think I like our bucket mom. After that we were able to find a site that gave us a map of port a potties and live feed of which ones where the best ones to go to. Never in my life would I thought I would be getting messages about where to go to the bathroom at.
Making the best of the situation on Wednesday k and I was able to wash our hair from garden hose that was really nice and then a friend opened her home up so that I could do laundry which k thought that was awesome especially for my k bug. She was so excited to get clean underwear that she held onto them all the way home. I also got a frantic call from my mom saying I needed to check her house found out that several people are not following the No flush rule and sewage is backing up. So far none of my family has been affected by this issue.
My heart breaks looking around my town as we are trying to recover. Not only was part of the town flooded though with the no Flush order it has shut down restaurants, delis, schools etc which really hurts a lot of folks relying on this income. Stores are gouging prices on items an example of this 24 case of water normally $3 is now going for $7. The realization that most of the agriculture that we rely on here for winter is gone. Another big struggle for us is keeping our roads open since most roads cross the river to get into our town. Everyone was impacted in some aspect and the shock is just now wearing off.I do have to say that there has been a lot of blessings that have been given to us people outside of town and other communities have opened their homes for use of showers and laundry facilities. Trucks of water have started showing up. For my family personally I thank our close friends for use of laundry facilities, my husbands work for giving us water, my mom for helping me with our plumbing. We still have a long road ahead though we are survivors and God is still in control. Thanks to everyone for keeping us in your prayers as we go through this.
