Those that go to the fairgrounds for the local food pantry received a mystery green item and many including myself was like "WHAT IN THE WORLD"
Thanks to my folks for enlightening me these green items shaped kind of like an odd ball pear is a Coyote (Chayote).
This item belongs to the gourd family and the entire fruit can be eaten including the seeds. It can be eaten raw or cooked and taste almost like sweet though not overly sweet starchy fruit.
