I have the most horrible confession to make...This weekend I know I didn't blog but I really had a good reason, alright maybe not. Just about every week until fall we will be busy in this house, as some of you know we are doing renovations. Well this weekends project was to tear a hole in my daughters floor.
As as you can see above...I didn't take a picture of it before they covered it though we had to put a hole in floor. There was several reason for this the biggest reason was the floor joist where 24in apart and not 16in like they should of been and boy did we bounce it wasn't to bad in the bedrooms though in the other half house. This is what would happen, you be sitting down and then a big heavy vehicle rumbles past the house and next thing you know half the things you had sitting in front of you were on the floor or you swayed so much you went on the floor. No wonder we were having trouble coloring in this house.
So that left us with one thing to do re-enforce the entire floor joist. BUT, we have another problem to get to the side of the house where the bedrooms were at you had to crawl up 1/2 a concrete wall using a step ladder, then crawl in a 3ft by 3ft hole, and then crawl 12 feet to the end of this wall (it was part of an old foundation) and then go around the wall and then crawl another 4 feet to get to the spot you needed. Nope not going to happen especially when you had 12 6x10 10ft long boards to lug, plus 12 cinder blocks, plus tools that would for sure give you a work out. So we figured the easy solution drop a hole in the floor and drop things down. Worked great but I tell you what the rest of the house suffered big time.
This is my confession look at this mess......
this is my kitchen and back porch...
I tell you Renovation sucks and right now my prayer is that I survive another year and pray that I can keep up...at least I can hide stuff now or maybe I have a good excuse for the clutter. (um, yeah right)
