Family Trip Part 9-homemade ice blocks

  So I am down to the last few days before we pull out for our wonderful 37hr trip to Canada. One of the items that I need to nail down before we leave is Food...oh yeah everyone needs to eat sometime. So I will be throwing out some items that I have done for my family.  So for starters you have a cooler and just a few ice packs though What about making your own...oh now there is a thought. 

What I have done is taken a 6pk of little juice boxes and thrown them in the freezer. Along with 2 quarts of milk, just remember to open these up and dump out about 3/4 of a glass of the milk out, due to the fact it will expand when it freezes. So after they are frozen I will then place them in a freezer baggies and lay them down inside cooler with the ice packs I have. Now as your milk thaws out you will not only have ice though cold milk or juice along the way.  Another item that I have frozen is oranges, these will make delicious snacks and best of all make great ice cubes, as well.
